The prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم said:
“Whoever goes to the masjid not desiring nothing except to learn goodness or to teach it, then he will have the reward of a Hajj, a complete Hajj.”
[Reported by Al-Tabaraanee in Al-Kabeer, Saheeh al-Targheeb al-Tarheeb no.86]
Allaah’s Messenger صلى الله عليه وسلم said:
“There is no-one who leaves his house in order to seek knowledge except the angels lower their wings for him, being pleased with his action.”
[Reported by Al-Tirmidhee, Ibn Maajah,Ibn Hibbaan,al-Haakim, Saheeh al-Targheeb wal-Tarheeb no.85]

He صلى الله عليه وسلم said:
“Whoever sets out in order to seek knowledge then he is the Path of Allaah until he returns.”
[Reported by al-Tirmidhee, Saheeh al-Targheeb wal-Tarheeb no.88]

The Excellence of Knowledge
Allaah did not command His prophet عليه الصلاة والسلام to seek (an increase in) the worldly life, he was only commanded with to seek an increase in knowledge:
وَقُل رَّبِّ زِدۡنِى عِلۡمً۬ا
And say: “My Lord! Increase me in knowledge.”
(20:114)
He did not say: Say “Increase me in wealth”, or in worldly possessions or in authority rather:
وَقُل رَّبِّ زِدۡنِى عِلۡمً۬ا
And say: “My Lord! Increase me in knowledge.”

This is from the clearest of proofs to show the excellence and nobility of knowledge and it’s station with Allaah. For the prophet عليه الصلاة والسلام is the most knowledgeable of all the scholars and even with that he is being instructed by his Lord to seek an increase in knowledge.

The Fruits Of Believing That Quraan Is The Speech of Allaah
The following verse was revealed in regards to Aboo Bakr as-Siddeeq رضي الله عنه, when some people had slandered his daughter-‘Aayesha رضي الله عنها, from them was a relative of Aboo Bakr, who was a poor individual and had no wealth other than what Aboo Bakr used to provide for him but when news reached him that his relative was from those who involved in this great slander, Aboo Bakr stopped giving to him. Then when Allaah revealed the innocence of ‘Aayesha and the punishment of slander was established upon those who were involved (his cousin was forgiven) Allaah revealed the following ayah:
وَلۡيَعۡفُواْ وَلۡيَصۡفَحُوٓاْ‌ۗ أَلَا تُحِبُّونَ أَن يَغۡفِرَ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمۡ‌ۗ وَٱللَّهُ غَفُورٌ۬ رَّحِيمٌ
“Do you not love that Allaah should forgive you? And Allaah is Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” (24:22)
Aboo Bakr said:
“Of course, by Allaah, we love O our Lord that You should forgive us.”
Then he resumed his spending on his cousin and said,
“By Allaah I will never stop spending on him.”

The affect of the Quraan on the Companions رضي الله عنهم, as they knew with certainty it was the Speech of the Lord of all the creation and NOT the speech of the creation!
Also that he رضي الله عنه understood the implications of the ayah, that if he forgave then in return Allaah would forgive him.
Knowledge should enter and settle in our hearts and it’s signs upon our limbs and tongue. That is Beneficial Knowledge!

Uyaina bin Hisn bin Hudhaifa bin Badr came and stayed (in Madeenah) with his nephew Al-Hurr bin Qais bin Hisn who was one of those whom `Umar used to keep near him, as the Qurra’ (learned men knowing Qur’an by heart) were the people of `Umar’s meetings and his advisors whether they were old or young.
‘Uyaina said to his nephew, “O my nephew! Have you an approach to this chief so as to get for me the permission to see him?” His nephew said, “I will get the permission for you to see him.”
(Ibn `Abbas added: ) So he took the permission for ‘Uyaina, and when Uyaina entered, he said,
“O the son of Al-Khattab! By Allaah, you neither give us sufficient provision nor judge among us with justice.”
On that `Umar became so furious that he intended to harm him.
Al-Hurr, said, “O Chief of the Believers!” Allaah said to His Prophet
“Hold to forgiveness, command what is good (right), and leave the foolish (i.e. do not punish them).”(7.199) and this person is among the foolish.”
By Allaah, `Umar did not overlook that Verse when Al-Hurr recited it before him, and `Umar said to observe (the orders of) Allaah’s Book strictly.

This is why our scholars give great attention to learning and teaching the ‘Aqeedah as it is the greatest reason for rectification of individuals, households, communities and the Ummah.

“Why should Allaah punish you if you have thanked (Him) and have believed in Him. And Allaah is Ever All¬Appreciative (of good), All¬Knowing.” (4:147)

‘Umar ibn al-Khattab (may Allaah be pleased with him) said:
“Some prisoners were brought to the Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم, and there was a woman among the prisoners who was looking (for her child). When she found her child she embraced him and put him to her breast. The Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم said to us,
“Do you think that this woman would throw her child in the fire?”
We said, “No, by Allaah, not if she is able not to.”
The Messenger of Allaah صلى الله عليه وسلم said,
“Allaah is more merciful to His slaves than this woman is to her child.”
